Abstract
Mobile learning has come a long way since Sir Isaac Pitman initiated the first correspondence course in the early 1840’s. The one-size-fits-all educational approach of the past is being transformed by mobile-based customized learning systems. Mobile learning (m-learning) can be viewed as the processes of knowledge acquisition through conversations across multiple contexts using interactive technologies that are independent of time, place and learning pace. The purpose of this research is to assess the impact of the iPad and similar mobile e-learning technologies on graduate management education. Specifically, the results of an ongoing pilot program involving the use of iPods in a graduate management course will be assessed and extrapolated to a national level. The presentation will also estimate the impact of mobile learning technologies on energy and environmental sustainability.
