Abstract

In this presentation a comparison will be made of results of three studies on student computer use (grades 7 to 10): from 1998, 2002, and 2004 (557, 797, and 325 students respectively). Data were gathered with an online questionnaire where students indicated whether they had acquired several ICT related skills. Information on attitudes and computer use in and out of schools were also gathered as well as on problems related to computer use. Students gained on average half a skill per year during the period from 1998 to 2004, the gain was more for the girls than boys and more for the younger age group (grade 7-8) than the older (9-10). The relationship between skills and other factors will be reported and discussed.
