Abstract

Pre-service teachers gain concept mastery when technology is integrated with the constructivist teaching model. Fusing digital imagery and constructivist learning in a Language Arts methods course provides pre-service teachers with experiences that lead to an understanding of constructivist learning. Two early methods classes are blocked in the same semester. Instructors plan a joint activity combining language arts and digital imagery. Readers theatre scripts serve as prompts for the project, which involves the creation of an iMovie, using digital still and video photography, based on scripts the methodology students write during the semester. This presentation will describe the project from conception in the Language Arts class to completion in the technology course with examples of each step of the process from both courses. Samples produced at each step will be shown and reflections on the process will be shared. Handouts of resource materials used will be provided.
