Abstract

This poster session reports on initial findings in a study on Technology Enabled, Active Learning (TEAL) classrooms. The goal of TEAL classrooms is to replace the traditional lecture in the amphitheater-type classroom with “highly collaborative, hands-on, computer-rich, interactive learning environments”, with students in learning pods around circular tables containing groups of up to nine. Presented are initial findings on student attitudes and learning with these types of classrooms and whether they "work". Early observations of the classrooms will be shared in the poster and early findings on potential distractions in TEAL classrooms. These classrooms include a high degree of 21st century technological integration.
