Abstract
The study examined the use of Joomla, one of the open-source software programs released under the GNU/GPL License, to facilitate knowledge sharing activities in a graduate seminar course. Both quantitative and qualitative data were collected and analyzed for understanding the factors that affect students’ online knowledge sharing behaviors. The results showed that the sense of community, group reciprocity and the chance of having face-to-face meetings influenced students’ motivation to engage in online knowledge sharing. The results also indicated that students’ familiarity toward the tool and the learning curve of the tool affected their willingness to use it when performing online sharing activities.
