Abstract

The purpose of this paper is to describe pharmacy residents' experience and other post-graduate trainees' perspectives of pharmacy involvement in the initial stages of an interprofessional ambulatory care training program. Pharmacy residents collaborated with medical residents, nurse practitioner residents, and a clinical psychology fellow during their one-month rotation in interprofessional activities such as a CarePlus clinic, ambulatory care clinic, and weekly didactic training. Outcomes were assessed quantitatively and qualitatively to obtain other professional trainees' view on pharmacy involvement in clinic as well as pharmacy residents’ perspective regarding their rotational experience. The development of this structured rotation contributed to increased knowledge sharing, communication, interpersonal skills, and collaboration amongst post-graduate trainees and identified areas for quality improvement that could be implemented in the future. Evaluations and assessments are ongoing.
