Abstract

Instructional technology is an integral component of teacher education programs in the United States. Many programs depend upon a required course to ensure that their pre-service teachers meet the program’s instructional technology standards and are prepared to effectively use technology in their future classrooms. This case study reflects decisions made during a complete redesign of a teacher education instructional technology course, moving from assignments heavily dependent on proprietary software to assignments that primarily use free online applications while still meeting the same standards.
