Abstract

This paper discusses different types of learning using games and identifies the importance of games for cognition and learning. Examples of different ways of using games for facilitation of learning and assessment of cognitive as well as affective skills by integrating learning from different subject areas and through interpersonal communication have been discussed in this article. A discussion on game architecture for 21st century included suggestions for developing games for adult learning. Author provides an analysis of the skills for 21st century and describes how learning and assessment of 21st century skills could be possible using educational games. In concluding remarks author proposes changes in the ways we learn, teach and assess in the 21st century.
