Abstract

What are the main factors that could potentially contribute to a more successful teaching process in the virtual environment of a web conference classroom? One way to attempt to answer this challenge is by understanding the Mediatic Transposition concept based on the results of a case study research project that sought to identify the impacts of the web conference in education that emphasizes the changing roles of teachers in this new and challenging technological environment. The case study with an ethnographic approach identified how the teaching tasks changed when pupils and instructors interacted face to face, mediated by technology, in a face-connected classroom. The research took as its starting point studies related to the Didactic Transposition (Chevallard 1997) and addressed changes in teaching practices in the transition from conventional to face-connected classrooms. Ten questions have been formulated to indicate how teachers can achieve success in this new educational technological arena.
