Abstract
Abstract: This paper reviews the relationship between learning and reflection based on which an approach to design reflective activities in distance learning materials is delineated. The concept of reflection, its types, the processes involved, and the skills required to reflect are discussed and analyzed. The role of reflection in distance learning materials is discussed, and the authors propose a framework for designing reflective activities comprising: (i) use of action verb, (ii) use of a question format to cover what, how and why, and (iii) provision of opportunity to contextualize, theorize and personalize learning.
