Abstract
The purpose of this paper is to discuss the building of a new digital culture in preservice teacher education in terms of the professionalism and new digital skills expected of teachers. Policymakers and school administrators look for beginning teachers who utilize a wide range of digital tools and skills that support a new learning environment and a structured learning culture with the exploitation of student-centered technology. Technology integration goes beyond technology for teaching purposes; requiring teachers to become digital facilitators. The new digital learning culture requires teachers to evolve from a teacher-centered mindset and become digital teaching designers, mentors, facilitators, and evaluators. The digital learning culture also leads to a change in the roles of teachers as digital classroom managers and computational thinking designers.
